04 Sep The Lokal Guide to Creating a Social Media Content Plan
Well, well, well. We meet again. Today we’ll be going over some tips and tricks for creating a social media content plan. The importance of having a plan for your social media content cannot be overstated. If you want a high-quality social media presence, it all starts with the planning. You can’t just throw it together day by day and expect to get results. Sit back, relax, and take advantage of these tips from your favorite social media guru.
Tip 1. Determine how far ahead you want to plan and schedule your content.
There’s no correct answer to this. At Lokal Media House, we plan and schedule our client’s social media content anywhere from a week to a month prior to the day it goes out. This leaves our team plenty of time to polish the content. The worst thing you could possibly do is try to cram all of your content planning into too short of a time and end up losing quality and creativity.
Tip 2. Compile a folder of photos to choose from.
You’re going to thank me for this. Planning social media content is a tedious and time-consuming task. Taking a few hours to gather photos to choose from each week or month will save you a lot of time on the back end. The last thing you want to do is add 10 minutes to the design of every post searching for a photo.
Step 3. Create a template and stick with it.
Mistakes are a hard thing to avoid when you’re working on hundreds of posts every week. One way to cut down on mistakes is to have a template; a consistent document that you will use for every week or month of planning. We suggest each template include areas for photos, captions, and the publish date. This will make you a more efficient content creator and make your boss smile when you save time. Time is money, right? Get in touch with our team and we’ll be happy to walk you through how to create a template.
Step 4. Organization is the name of the game.
If the last couple of tips haven’t made it clear that organization is key, then I’ll just say it…Organization is key. To be consistent with the quality of your content you need to be able to get in a groove. Try not to change the steps you take too often and allow yourself to develop some muscle memory. At Lokal Media House we have great SOPs that minimize mistakes and automatically make mistakes clear when we do make them.
Step 5. Make it a team effort.
I highly suggest putting a team together to manage your social media content. It’s always a good idea to have another set of eyes and point of view to identify mistakes and come up with great ideas. If you’re not confident with your social media skills, then we’re here to help. We’ve got a dream team of content creators here at Lokal Media House and we can have your social media presence on point in no time.
That’s all for today folks, I’m rapidly approaching my word limit and if you read my last blog about creating expert hashtags you know what they do to me when I go over. Catch y’all on the flip side.
